 "Sugarloaf Spots Inc. operates a small ski hill on the outskirts of St. John’s.  It boasts 5 runs and 2 lifts.  It is known locally as The Lump” or “Logy Lump” .  It is truly a “small hill with a big heart”.  For many years now they have let us use their facility for our younger skiers with a disability.  We have been given access to the hill, building and their equipment, pretty well whenever we need it.  Some years there is not enough snow for them to open officially to the public, but we have always been welcome to go there with our kids as we generally just need the lower part of the hill.  There are some limitations in terms of the terrain and the lifts.  We cannot accommodate the older, bigger skiers and bi-skis easily, but it has proven a great place to start skiers off.  The next closest ski hill is 2 hours away and it is a long drive for most of our younger children.  They do not charge us to use the facility and their volunteers are willing to help out when they can.

We hadn’t really thought about nominating “The Lump” for one of CADS awards because it is so small compared to other resorts, but Sharon Lesley has had some dealings with Brad Power, re Insurance Certificates and the like and she was so impressed with his attitude and the support we get from them that she felt them very worthy of a nomination.
