SNOWBOARDING Pilot Project
- FOR IMMEDIATE PUBLIC RELEASE -
The St. John’s Ski Club Board of Directors is happy to announce the implementation of a Snowboarding Pilot Project at Sugarloaf Hill, in Logy Bay.
For 40 years, the Ski Club has operated as a downhill ski-only facility. After much deliberation, we now feel the time is right to evaluate the inclusion of a secondary group of clientele. Diversifying our operation will provide enhanced revenues and expansion of our membership community. Fifty (50) individuals will be offered trial memberships for the upcoming 2008 season with the purpose of thoroughly evaluating the effects of an increase in visitors and the capability for snowboarders to use the facility in a similar manner as skiers.
Individuals wishing to be chosen for the Pilot Project are asked to submit an e-mail to bradleypower@nl.rogers.com with their name, address, telephone number, sex, age and e-mail address. The cost to participate is $100.00, with varying payment options available, upon request. Twenty five (25) people will be chosen at random, with the remaining snowboarders being chosen by the Board of Directors so to ensure inclusion of a range of beginners, intermediate and expect snowboarders. The deadline to submit an application is Monday, February 4, by end of business day. Interested individuals should make payment of membership fees no later than the next operating day, at which time a membership ID will be provided.
All hill rules and regulations, as well as the criteria for ongoing evaluation throughout the 2008 season will be e-mailed to successful applicants. As the intention of the Pilot Project is to evaluate the effects of new entrants to the club, a report will be developed and subsequently submitted to the Board of Directors for consideration in Fall of 2008.
The St. John’s Ski Club is excited for the arrival of a new and diverse clientele, and look forward to the upcoming season’s success!
